The third race of the 2.0 Liter Cup 2024 was held during the Grand Prix De L´Age D´Or at Dijon Prenois historical race track in France. This 3,8 km old F1 track has a lot of elevation and tricky turns. The long main straight go uphill and has very high top speed due to the last, very fast downhill corner before the main straight, which gives very good entry speed.
There was good participation in the 2.0 Liter Cup with 26 cars in the first practice session. In the very close qualifying session we were P15 with 3 seconds from the pole. The differences in the middle of the pack were small. Jussi improved his best lap with 0,9 seconds on the last qualifying lap. It had impact of 0,45 seconds to our average time, which meant 3 positions improvement in the starting grid. Finally after some penalties we started as P14.
The race day weather was partly vet, which made the track very slippery. The 1,5 hour race started in the rain, then the track tried but heavy rain started again 5 laps before the end. Risto took excellent start and was already P8 after one lap. Risto came in as P4 after 40 minutes and Jussi left the pits as P16 due to our 20 second handicap and cars coming to the pits in different times. On the last sector Jussi was at one stage already P10, but the final result was P13 after some penalties and one disqualification. We were happy for the result. The race was very tight and Risto had good fight with the top cars during first half and Jussi has a good race in the middle of the pack on the second half.
Our spring season in Europe is now over. In the last three months we have driven 4 races and 5 test days. In total 13 days on the track. The season results have been good for us in a very competitive fleet: P10/21 and P11/58 in Mugello, P15/28 in SPA and P13/27 in Dijon. 2.0 Liter Cup will continue in the fall.
