2011 model Porsche 997 GT3 RS 4.0 is an absolute future classic. It was a limited edition road car with the all the latest race technology from Porsche. Only 600 Limited Edition cars were produced.

It was the last Porsche 911 with famous “Mezger” race engine and possibly the last 911 RS ever build with a manual gearbox.

Following the tradition of the 1973 Carrera RS 2.7, Porsche offered road going RS (=Rennsport) – racing versions also of the 996 and 997 water cooled models. The 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0 is the final evolution of the 997 model series and the last version of the famous dry sump Mezger engine. This 4.0 liter flat six uses intake system from the GT3 R Hybrid racer and crankshaft from the GT3 RSR racer with increased stroke dimensions bringing it to the 4.0 liters. All the changes made it possible to increase the power output to the magic 500 PS / 493 bhp at 8250 rpm and 460 Nm of torque at 5750 rpm. The 4.0 litre engine was the largest engine ever used in any road going 911. The car weighs 1,360 kilograms.
