Carrera Classic organized together with Porsche Classic Club Finland Luftgekühlt Treffen at Botniaring race track on Sunday 10.7. 2022. The event was a great success. We had finally a nice weather and a lot of enthusiastic participants. We had about 40 aircooled Porsches around (+ many watercooled and electric) and maybe some 80 participants in total. We had soup for 60 participants ordered in the restaurant, but it run out. The day started with a briefing and a slow speed cruising on the track in small groups behind the follow-me car. All cars (ex. one) participated to this first run, many getting their first track experience. Then we put helmets on and started looking for the right driving lines on the track with a bit more speed. Then our driving insructor Risto Virtanen was giving some individual coaching for about 10 drivers in their own cars. At the same time the track was available for limited number of the cars for free driving. There were also some taxi rides with our 1965 911 race car. There was a lot of track activity going on for the whole day on this 4014 meter long track. At same time there was a lot of socializing and discussion about the different cars participating. We had most aircooled models present: 356, 912, 911, 914, SC, Carreras, 964 and 993 models. We also had on the track the fastest VW Kastenwagen around with its genuine Porsche engine. Cool.
The participants came from all over the country: From Helsinki area, but also from the north: Rovaniemi, Kokkola,… and from the center of the country: Muurame, Tampere,… Of course we had also strong partipation from our own region, Ostrobothnia. It was a great summer day on the track and we thank for all who participated and contributed to the event – Thank You.
